when you do a maintenance check at car shop what they check?

Clifford Riggleman: It all depends on what you take your vehicle in for. If you do a maintenance tune up. they check all the fluids, check your air filter, tire thread wear, some places check your lights/blinkers make sure they all work. Really it all depends on what you want them to do. Brakes come in different materials and warranties so they all differ, it also depends on how hard you brake and how often. but when ever you change your brakes make sure to wear them in first. go to a street that you know is low in traffic and do a go and stop routine for 100yards to get them broken in....Show more

Joeann Hoyt: Get a voltmeter and assess the battery voltage earlier than you bounce the automobile. It will have to be 12 volts, perhaps a little bit greater if the battery is well. If the battery is much less that 10 volts, it's broken. When you bounce it and get the automobile going for walks you will have to learn nearly 14 volts at the battery. If it is cut down than ! that your alternator isn't charging, however I doubt that is the difficulty when you consider that you'll be able to force huge distances. The battery might pass down and die whilst you force if it isn't getting charged from the alternator. Make certain, earlier than whatever, that the battery terminals are blank- within and out- and tight at the battery posts....Show more

Jestine Osumi: For the second hand cars, it is hard to find the booklet of maintenance schedules that comes with new purchase. When I had an old car, I only check oil level, tires. Every time it reached those 90000, 120000 miles, I asked mechanics to check timing belt. Change spark plugs and wires. I add gas treatment every three 3000 miles, and I found out that if I use good gas, 91 grade, it help the engine run much smooth, --it cost a little more, but comapred to buy another car, it is still cheaper. OH, I also check coolant-- it is tough for old cars not to leak. Keep adding it- if you find it ! below mininum. Never add too much, that is cause bursting or l! eaking....Show more
