nokia netbook hardware issue?

Nicolasa Henke: Replace the thermal paste on the cpu. All your problems describe a poor seal between the heat sink and the cpu or, a dying motherboard or cpu. Of the three replacing the paste is the least problematic.Thermal paste separation or failure. The main clue is failure of the cpu to come up when attempting to start the computer. That meams the cpu sometimes makes good contact with the heat sink and doesn't immediately go into thermal shutdown. Thermal paste separation is caused by rough handling of the computer.CPU failure. Again main clue failure of the CPU to respond during startup. Sometimes coming up and other times failing to respond is a classic CPU failure trait. Loss of sound occurs as the CPU loses function, it begins to shutdown services as resources become scarcer.Motherboard failure. Main clue failure of the computer to respond during startup. Failure of the motherboard normally starts in the legacy devices and ports and spreads up through the South B! ridge (ICH). As the motherboard fails more services are rendered unusable. A North Bridge failure normally results in a more profound collapse of the computer hardware.Another cause could well be a bad power supply or broken power jack. I doubt that this is your problem because of the sound problem. Normally, power problems only effect overall performance and not systemic problems. However the possibility of multiple problems shouldn't be ruled out. In short, diagnosing the problem needs a hands on approach. Many signs that a professional repair tech would see are lost on people not familiar with computer systems....Show more

Marco Stolarz: contrary to my short question i am quite familiar with hardware, just not so familiar with netbooks. really i just needed a second opinion. witch i now have. its pretty obvious its the motherboard... so now... its time to dunk it in some super cooled glycerin and over clock the heck out of it and see what i can make it do lol. than! ks for your help, and bassman, know what your talking about be! fore you answer something ok?

Robin Tommie: Order the system recovery by model and serial number from the manufacturer and do a system repair or re install.

Rosella Figliola: System repair wont solve the problem haha. Ok It is definitely a hardware problem. Sound card overheating? no I don't think so. Explain better. Right now I just understand that your having problems with sound. If that's the case, then the sound card is no good. You'd have to get the mother board replaced. Most boards now are intergrated which means that alot of the sound cards or video is part of the motherboard. On a PC its easier to fix because you can replace it with an Expansion card. It has slots, on Laptops there usually isn't any PCI slots available on the motherboard. If the PC shutdown it could be that the CPU or Video Chip is overheating, maybe your fan is broken or it needs cleaning. It can be a variety of reasons, but one thing for sure is that if it is the video its still worki! ng. I would say thermal compound could help, but thermal pastes usually lasts a while. If its new and you've only had it for 2 years I don't think that thermal paste would be an issues, unless you dropped it and therefore it could loosen up hardware components, and the CPU fan. Hey, but hey, sometimes **** happens, it maybe a possiblity who knows. If it were fried, you won't see anything on the screen at all. You definitely need to have it checked out by a professional. I would post a link to my website but then yahoo will consider it as spam and delete it. So if you want to save some money, get in contact with me and I'll see what I can do for you. I run an online computer repair business, and I will give you a decent price. Way cheaper than other places especially best buy's geek squad who are nothing more but a bunch of thieves taking peoples money haha. My email is info@syconyc.com, and the name is Emilio. Depending on where you are, you might have to ship it to me, but! it will be worth it. I'll pay to ship it back to you of course, and it! will be like brand new with alot of cool stuff installed on it, and a 2 year warranty on any hardware parts and 2 year free online tech support....Show more
