selling my car vehicle?

Jammie Taddei: How about just being upfront and telling the buyer the airbag doesn't work. Also, mention it in the bill of sale and keep your copy.

Davida Gisriel: Sell the car "as-is" and inform the buyer. There should be an air bag light on the dash which should be obvious to the buyer in addition to your informing him/her. Most places do not govern the condition of a vehicle which passes from a private party.

Elinore Schlinker: I'd be real careful with this issue. You might want to check the laws in your state to find out what your liabilty might be. Even if you notify the prospective buyer about the problem, it may not be enough to cover you in the event of an accident and possible lawsuit.Do a little homework now and save yourself a lot of grief later....Show more

Ramon Dahlheimer: From what I've had experience with I'd say it might be illegal to do that in some states and yes you might be kept liable if you had knowledge of the problem! Airbags ! are very expensive to repair as well. Some run as much as $3000 each, or more, to replace, so I'd be pretty pissed if you sold me a car that had missing, or bad airbags. Depending on the customer you might also get some smartass who would try and get his money back by getting into accident and proving that the airbags indeed did not deploy and the call foul play on you. The reason is, some ppl like to sell the airbags first and then the car... So it's your choice, but I'd check with your state laws first, or just inform the potential customer. Don't tell him it doesn't work, but suggest that it might not, and that he should get it checked out....Show more
