Becky Mosena: My friends and I want to work with the martial arts, and since my uncle took jujitsu to become a cop, I wanted to learn it. I'd like a school in Charleston that would teach begining teenagers.
Marylee Lucks: I personally like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo.
Maria Devenney: Strengthening your wrist may be helpful. I do not suggest you do any conditioning of your knuckles. It is risky and will not make your punches necessarily any better.
Trena Berum: Wushu and Sanshou. Sanshou is a type of Chinese Close Combat Sparring Martial Art, pretty similar to Wushu, just that it involves lots of Sparrings and Fightings. Wushu involves Weaponary Skils such as Sword, Broadsword and Staff. It also involves flips and cartwheels.
Kris Bozelle: Rex kwon do.
Jarrod Darnall: I don;t think you should do it on rope. Try sand first(fill up a bucket with sand, then punch straight down into it). Then you can fill up canvas bags with wood chips, metal s! havings, and gravel. Mount these on your wall and punch them. Be warned, some people say knuckle conditioning can negatively affect your knuckles later on.
Edmund Rappley: Tae Kwon Do
Christiane Cattano: well im planning on starting to streangthen my knuckles and wrists...but i have i think a bone fracture) in my right knuckle because everytime i get in a fight...not in the ring...it just blowssss up but its never broken...would it be ok to start punching the trees with rope tied around it or is that not a good idea...my knuckles been like this for a while but iv mostly been working on my shins latley
Clementina Collelo: knuckle push ups, stack some flat sand paper on a wall that should be mighty thick, 2ft of thickness and punch those, it works
Cristopher Gavalis: instructors aside my favorite overall style would be tang soo do. they have both basic and advanced strikes and principles of striking. they have many techniques/patterns and ways of sol! o practicing and they have joint locks for close range problem! s.my favorite joint locking/grappling style would be aikido. the principles are effective and can be added to your striking strategy. and after watching ufc I would like to have something that ends fight quickly as opposed to striking and hoping for a KO or just a finish in general. the joint locks are also very effective and easy to get when you are fighting. (I only suggest this art to people with a striking background.)weapons I enjoy the japanese weapons, katana, staff, and knife.ground is bjj. I find wrestling fun and hard work. I was told by my friends doing bjj that you can only get promoted by beating people at your rank and some at higher ranks. that makes it a true fighting art. still when taught properly my favorite is tang soo do. through tang soo do I learned wing chun principles (actually in the art) some sanshou sweeps (adapted from techniques in the art) and boxing and karate strikes....Show more
Mark Hovanes: Sambo...
Joan Stavropoulos: and i kn! ow mma is not a martial art
Ronny Dorge: Find the school that teaches Kamishinryu. They have jujitsu as well as other arts. I trained with several students of Albert C. Church in Charleston in the 1980's. They know their stuff. Realistic self-defense and yet traditional too. If you can't find them let me know and I'll put you in touch with them.
Wally Perrien: I have been taking different forms of martial arts but I have been moving around a lot. I know dedication, I know mastery, I am not exactly the typical westerner. I don't like things fast fast fast, I like things to be at a pace, I don't mind taking the kyudo classes for the next seven years that is how dedicated I want to be. Dedication is the key to any success story, or any goal. The key is to be able to complete anything with success and thoroughness. I want to learn and then see what "rank" I could be, I would like to be an archer because that is where my heart lies, not just for a quick time in the! moment. So again, Archery is something that I am crazy about, and some! thing that my soul desires and yearns for, If it wanted to be learning wrestling, cooking, or racing, I would not be asking this question. So please take it seriously.Thank you for your answers even if they help me or not, I still appreciate them. ....Show more
Elmo Tervo: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I'm 16 and have jacked up legs from a year of gymnastics and 8 years kenpo/XMA so its nice to my legs. And we don't do regular stand up sparring at my Kenpo school anymore.
Lu Tiner: MMA is not a martial art, first off. But my favorite martial art is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Filiberto Amauty: My favorite weapon is the cane/walking stick.I peruse the martial arts for techniques:Tai Chi Chuan,Bagua,Bartitsu,LaCanne,etc....Show more
Joel Feagler: I am really addicted to the thought of being an archer, and Japanese archery is now my goal so please, if anyone could help me with this that would be spectacular! Thanks in advance!!!
Bernie Cerra: Check google
R! achell Meese: Favorite is Muay Thai, but I respect and enjoy all Marial Arts and I also love MMA.
Lulu Bukowiecki: http://www.kyudo.com/tkr.htmlJapanese archery is completely different compared to western archery mind you. There are three styles of Japanese archery, the Muyo, Federation and the combat style(kyujutsu). Both Muyo and Federation styles are forms of Kyudo. The difference between the two is in their goals, Federation practitioners focuses more on attaining rank, while Muyo just learn to shoot for the sake of learning. Kyudo takes time, once you start attending the dojo, it'll be about 3-6 months, depending on the dojo, before you get to touch a bow. So if you're into instant gratification, like most in the western world, this might not be for you.Edit:Sorry, just letting you know what to expect. Go to the website above, and enjoy....Show more
Bailey Lares: shaolin kung fu but unfortunately they don't let gwailo train at the temple or else i woul! d've been there long ago
