In the bible, in Matthew 1 it starts off by describing the genealogy of Jesus.?

Penelope Armond: Mary's genealogy is given in Luke 3, starting in v. 23. Bear in mind that in Greek, the word for "Son of" and "Son-in-law of" are the same. So, the genealogy starts by saying "Joseph the SON-IN-LAW of ... ". It's hard to say which of those "sons of" are actually "son in law of". It was common practice in those days to give a woman's genealogy in her husband's name in this fashion.
